Report on Fatal Traffic Accident Involving a Vehicle of the French Military Liaison Mission in Halle, 22 March 1984

Description: This report concerns the death of French Sergeant Philipp Mariotti, killed in a car accident during a blocking exercise of the East German Ministry of State Security (MfS) and the East German armed forces. Mariotti was a member of the French Military Liaison Mission (MLM). According to this report, the accident occurred because the French vehicle entered a restricted area and did not respond to blocking maneuvers of an East German military vehicle.
